Ceraglass was founded in Hackensack NJ in 1940 by Anthony Velonis (1911-1997).  Velonis was born in New York City to a Greek immigrant family.  He became a painter, designer, and craftsman and was very involved in the silkscreen process on many items such as metal, glass and plastic.  In 1940 Velonis founded the Ceraglass Company, (better known today as Cera Glass), a silk screening firm intended to experiment with silkscreen prints.  They  created elegant cocktail glasses, barware and other specialty pieces which were sold in high end department stores. Over time, the company grew to become a world-renowned glass manufacturer and completed larger-scale works for organizations such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Tiffany's, and others.  They even patented their method of printing on glass bottles.  The success of the glass business allowed Mr. Velonis to paint what he liked, when he liked, and not worry about financial matters. In 1970 Ceraglass Co. merged into VCA of Bridgeport, CT.
